Purpose of Blended Learning Delivery (1/2 Online, 1/2 In-Class)
The purpose of Canadian Red Cross blended delivery is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to sustain life and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until advanced medical help arrives. This program offers Standard First Aid courses to meet the training needs of those in workplace, school and community settings.
The content and activities will help participants identify and respond to potentially hazardous conditions, recognize emergencies and make appropriate decisions for first aid care. The blended learning courses are designed to be flexible to meet the various needs of course participants.
The In-class Component
After successful completion of the online component, participants then complete an instructor-led classroom component (skills practice and evaluation session) in order to achieve certification. Participants must complete the classroom component within four weeks of completing the online component.
The Online Component
Each blended learning course is divided into two components. Participants must first complete the self-paced online component, which includes written knowledge evaluations. There are built in accessibility features to make the blended learning delivery as user friendly as possible (audio, live chat, print, feedback, etc.)
Important: If a participant does not attend a classroom session within this four-week time span, they must purchase another ePIN and re-take the online component before being admitted into the classroom.
